Who is the Surge Mastercard® for?
The Surge Mastercard® is specifically designed for people with no or poor credit rating. This card also reports to the three major credit bureaus every month, allowing its cardholders to start building or rebuilding their credit scores by having a good credit report. However, even though the Surge Mastercard® has great potential for improving one’s credit score, it requires a high annual fee and has 24.99% – 29.99% (Variable) as its APR. As a result, we suggest people consider thoroughly before applying the Surge Mastercard®.
Even though many other credit cards try to attract as many customers as possible by providing many rewards and benefits, the Surge Mastercard® does not offer any reward program. Instead, this card emphasizes improving cardholders’ credit ratings through different card perks and protections.
The Surge Mastercard® offers to report its cardholders’ card usage to all three bureaus including Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. All lenders will check one’s credit report through these three organizations, therefore this feature is able to benefit the cardholders as long as they improve their credit score
For the Surge Mastercard®, it has different annual fees depending on the applicant's different credit scores. The intro annual fees range from $75 to $99; you get a better rate based on your existing credit score, the ongoing annual fee afterwards is a fixed $99. In addition to the annual fee, the Surge Mastercard® also charges a monthly maintenance fee of up to $10 after the first year. As a result, cardholders can be responsible for up to almost $220 every year after the first year. The applicants should be aware of this high annual fee before applying.
On the other hand, the Surge Mastercard® charges a 24.99% – 29.99% (Variable) annual percentage rate on both purchases and cash advances, which is high compared to other credit cards. The applicants are recommended to not carry a balance because the interest charges can be huge after a few months. However, this card provides a 25 days grace period to pay one’s statement balance without any interest charge.
Rebuilding one’s credit score can be a complicated process, but the Surge Mastercard® may be a nice solution. On the other hand, applicants have to be aware of potentially high annual fees, monthly fees, and APR rates. With all being said, if you wish to improve your credit rating and are capable of paying the additional fees, the Surge Mastercard® is a great option for you.
